Try Scuba Diving

Would you like to experience the wonders of the underwater world at first hand?
Do you want to take up scuba diving, but don't know how to take the first step?

Well if you live in the Cardiff or South Glamorgan areas of South Wales, Cardiff Octopus Club could help turn your dreams into reality.

At Cardiff Octopus club we have been training divers the BSAC  way for over 25 years, and offer a wide range of scuba diving courses including:

  • Courses for complete beginners
  • Courses to suit more experienced divers
  • Courses aimed at divers crossing over from other training agencies, such as PADI

Learning to scuba dive can be great fun, and isn't as daunting as you might at first think. Especially with Club Training Officer Amanda Berry and her team of qualified instructors on hand to give you all the help and encouragement you need to become a qualified BSAC Ocean Diver.

So how do I get started?

Well, why not come along to a pool training sessions at Cardiff bay Olympic pool

Pool training sessions take place On Tuesday 8:30 - 9:30, and provide an ideal opportunity to meet Club members

All you need to bring along is a swimming costume and a towel, the Club will provide everything else.

After a demonstration, and a short talk to explain the basics of scuba diving, it's off to the pool to get kitted up and make your first dive.

A try-dive will only cost you 15 pounds, and whilst the swimming pool may not be that deep, it's deep enough for you to get the feel for scuba diving.

For further information about taking a try-dive, please contact Simon Quinney.

Having enjoyed your try-dive, there's every chance that you will be hooked, and will want to take up the sport and learn to dive with Cardiff Octopus BSAC.

diver training

Learning to dive with us you will start off by undertaking the BSAC Ocean Diver training programme. This leads to an internationally recognised qualification and consists of:

  • 7 theory lessons.
  • a theory assessment.
  • 5 pool lessons.
  • 5 open water lessons / dives (minimum of 120 mins underwater time).

Already qualified divers will have their qualification matched to the equivalent BSAC grade and can then start training on the next BSAC grade.
